Congratulations on your child's selection as an NHRI Leadership Mentee! This page is devoted to answering your questions about NHRI, and helping you understand how you can support your child's investment relationship with his or her NHRI Leadership Mentor.

Q: Why was my child selected as a Leadership Mentee?
A:  Your child was selected because they were identified as an outstanding leader among their peers at school.

Q: Who will my child be meeting with each week?
A:  Your child will be paired with an NHRI Leadership Mentor. An NHRI Leadership Mentor is an outstanding college leader at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln who demonstrated a high capacity to positively influence others in their interview with NHRI Leadership Mentoring. Leadership Mentors are some of the top leaders on UNL's campus.  Click here to learn more about NHRI’s Leadership Mentors.

Q: How can I support my child's NHRI relationship?
A: There are many ways you can help to strengthen your child's NHRI relationship. Click here to learn more.

Q: Can you share an example of a NHRI family success story?
A: The Mickells family is an outstanding example of a NHRI family investing into their children’s NHRI experience. Click here to read their story.

Q:  My child is in a “project”. What does that mean?
A:  Each NHRI mentor-mentee pair belongs to a subgroup of mentors and mentees called a “project.” Some projects are grade-specific (Junior Projects are for mentees in grades 7-9, and Teenage Project is for mentees in grades 10-12), and some are school-specific (East High School, LDP at Lincoln High School, LDP Southeast at Lincoln Southeast High School). Use the chart at the bottom of this page to determine which project your child is a part of.

Q: Who should I contact if I have questions about my child’s NHRI experience?
A: Your child’s project is led by a NHRI senior “staff advisor”. This student leader is an experienced NHRI mentor who meets with your child’s mentor on a weekly basis during project meetings. If you have any questions, comments, or feedback about your family’s NHRI experience, the staff advisor of your child’s project is a great first contact. Read the information below to determine which staff advisor you should contact based on your child’s project.

If you have additional questions, comments, or feedback, you are welcome to contact the NHRI staff directly at nhri.unl@gmail.com
